Roisin Hunter Bennett

Roisin 19 years old, our beautiful much loved only child. Roisin, Irish for Rose, her name being chosen when we first set eyes on her bright red hair and lily white Irish skin. Roisin was named after my grandma Roseline and her dad Tony's Irish grandparents.

From day one Roisin was such a character, and hence an only one, a feisty red head, a fun, cheeky child with a beaming smile and a loving nature. There was never an ounce of malice in Roisin, with her upward or downward turned mouth, what you saw was what you got with Roisin.

Wherever she went, whatever she turned her hand to she was noticed and remembered, and mostly for all the right reasons.

Roisin excelled at sports, playing netball and cross country running for County Durham and cycling from Darlington to Paris with her school cycling club.

Roisin also enjoyed drama, dancing and singing and she sang like an angel and had a phenomenal memory for song lyrics.

Her school life was happy and successful and as her Lancashire grandma Evelyn used to repeatedly say, "she's just a joy to be around".

After leaving school Roisin (or Roi as she was known to her work colleagues) where she worked at Darlington Specsavers. Roisin had worked there for 3.5 years and seemed very popular and well-liked at work, and despite her young age she was chosen as their staff representative.

Roisin was the youngest student in England to study for her dispensing optician exams, her goal being to go to university to finish off her studies and qualify as an optician.

Roisin was our world and we both miss her with every breath we take, our hearts are truly broken. We now both just live for the sake of living. It was the honour of our lives as her parents to watch our beautiful daughter Roisin grow.
